BEVIS V. CITY OF NAPERVILLE
Robert Bevis is the named plaintiff in the landmark federal Second Amendment case Bevis v. City of Naperville, challenging Illinois assault weapons ban legislation under the U.S. Constitution. The case received direct support from the U.S. Department of Justice and has been cited in federal courts nationwide as a significant post-Bruen Second Amendment challenge.
Owner & Master Gunsmith
ROBERT BEVIS

Law Weapons & Supply, Aurora, Illinois
With over 30 years in firearms design, manufacturing, gunsmithing, and retail, Robert Bevis is a lifelong craftsman who has dedicated his career to building, repairing, and defending the tools of freedom.
Born in Miami, Florida, Robert's journey began at age 11 in his father's gun shop and gun range. Sweeping floors, stapling targets, and cleaning firearms earned him the privilege of shooting 200 rounds of any gun in the store after his chores were done. That hands-on foundation — surrounded daily by the sights, sounds, and community of a working gun range — ignited a passion that led him to become a professional gunsmith, competition shooter, and certified firearms instructor.
Driven by a deep-rooted belief in the Second Amendment and the fundamental right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms, Robert opened Law Weapons & Supply. For decades, he and his family — wife Eleana, daughter Josalyn, and son Chris — have proudly served the community as a trusted destination for quality firearms, expert gunsmithing, custom builds, safety training, and responsible gun ownership education.
THE FACILITY
Today, Law Weapons & Supply operates from a state-of-the-art facility in Aurora, Illinois. Equipped with full in-house machining and advanced CNC capabilities, the shop allows Robert and his skilled team of gunsmiths, machinists, and technicians to control every aspect of production and customization under one roof. From precision milling and custom receiver work to complete rifle builds and repairs, the Aurora facility delivers professional-grade results with the efficiency and quality that only true vertical integration provides.
At Law Weapons & Supply, Robert leads this dedicated team through every stage of the process — from initial concept through CAD modeling, CNC programming, prototyping, testing, and final production — ensuring every firearm meets the highest standards of accuracy, reliability, and innovation.

DESIGN & ENGINEERING ACHIEVEMENTS
ARC Rifle Platform
Robert conceived, designed, and engineered every novel element of the ARC Rifle platform from the ground up, with his team bringing the vision to life through expert machining and assembly at the Aurora facility. Key innovations include:
- Integrated power system architecture
- 24K gold pogo pin electrical transfer system
- Programmable voltage regulator (1.5V–7.3V)
- ARC-Link powered handguard rail system
- Fully potted IP67 electronics package
- Custom grip module with dual 18650 battery housing
- USB-C charging and power bank integration
- Internal power routing through CNC-machined receiver channels
ADVOCATE AND DEFENDER OF SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS
Robert's commitment to the right to bear arms extends far beyond the workbench. In response to Illinois' Protect Illinois Communities Act — which bans commonly owned semi-automatic firearms and magazines — Robert, along with the National Association for Gun Rights and Law Weapons Inc., became the lead plaintiff in the landmark federal case Bevis v. Naperville.
Although Law Weapons & Supply is now proudly based in Aurora, the case originated from the impact of the ban on Robert's previous Naperville location and continues to represent the fight for law-abiding gun owners across Illinois. This nationally watched case challenges the constitutionality of the Act under the Second Amendment. It directly confronts conflicts with the landmark decisions in District of Columbia v. Heller and New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, particularly regarding the “in common use” test and the lack of historical tradition for banning widely owned firearms and standard-capacity magazines.
Robert stands as a voice for law-abiding gun owners, arguing that responsible citizens should not be stripped of their constitutional rights by laws that ignore both Supreme Court precedent and practical realities. Through his business, his designs, his training programs, and this ongoing legal battle alongside Dudley Brown and the National Association for Gun Rights, he continues to fight for the freedoms that have defined his life since those early days in his father's Miami gun shop and range.
Whether working alongside his team in the Aurora facility on a custom CNC-machined build, helping customers on the sales floor, teaching safety and marksmanship on the range, or standing up for constitutional rights in court, Robert Bevis leads by example. He embodies the American tradition of the master gunsmith, entrepreneur, family man, and unwavering defender of liberty.
Law Weapons & Supply in Aurora, Illinois remains committed to excellence in firearms, uncompromising integrity, and the unapologetic defense of our Second Amendment rights.
